Partner Organization Workshops

The Walter Hive offers tailored workshops to nonprofit community partners and the populations they serve.

Community Workshops

The Walter Hive offers workshops to the general community for a small fee. Classes in welding, woodworking, wearable electronics, watercolor, acrylics, and other fine art and fabrication techniques are scheduled regularly. Check our calendar for availability.

Youth STEAM Workshops

Our Youth S.T.E.A.M. Workshops are designed to educate and inspire young minds. Utilizing our advanced equipment and an array of fine art supplies, we empower youth to dream, imagine, and create. These workshops foster confidence, leadership, and problem-solving skills, while exposing participants to potential careers and hobbies. Through personalized mentoring and encouragement, we help each child realize their potential and believe in their ability to change the world.

Art Masterpiece Program

The Art Masterpiece series is a 5 day, two hour a day course which introduces a new artist and art style/ technique to participants each day. In this series, participants will learn the history of a different artist in each class and then create a project inspired by that artist. The intention is for participants to feel confident having learned new artistic skills and to feel less intimidated by new materials and approaches to art. Is is also powerful for students to carry this self confidence into other aspects of their lives, moving forward with positivity and possibility.

Design Series Program

This is a week long collaborative program. It includes all aspects of project development from concept to installation. Participants are introduced to art/tech skills including welding, woodworking, laser cutting, programming LEDs, and painting. Students are then tasked with creating an interactive community art project. Additional skill development includes problem solving, teamwork, time management and organizational structure. The week culminates with the projects being exhibited in Walter Art Gallery where families and community are invited to experience and celebrate the projects. The art pieces can then be moved and installed at the home of the collaborative nonprofit. The overall experience is about providing opportunity and growth, building confidence, and allowing participants to see themselves and shine in new ways. The intention is for the students to know that they are capable of changing their worlds.

School Field Trips

The Walter Hive offers educational field trips to our makerspace for customized workshops for students of all ages.

Third Friday

Join us on the Third Friday of each month (Sep-June) to celebrate the opening and closing receptions of our exhibits at the Walter Art Gallery. These events bring together art lovers, artists, and music enthusiasts for a communal experience featuring live music, a potluck, and a BYOB gathering in our makerspace. It’s an opportunity to connect with our growing community and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of art. Visit walter-art.com for current exhibition details. Please consider carpooling or using a rideshare service as parking is limited.

Teaching kids and adults the skills that will be changing the world.

The Walter Hive is steadily building upon the concept that there is tremendous power behind creative expression serving as a catalyst to build community, heal hearts, nourish minds and empower true self acceptance. We are in search of those who share our mission and are willing to invest on a deeper level.
