The Walter Hive joins the Arizona Burn Foundation at Camp Nurture which is a camp for young burn survivors and their families, to provide art-focused projects.
In this workshop, we lead participants in a group puzzle collage. The family members together choose a central image to put on their paper (handprints, a heart, something meaningful to them). Then the paper is cut into pieces so that each person has one or two. We provide a variety of art materials for individuals to decorate their own piece(s). In the final step, the pieces are reassembled onto a canvas to re-form the initial outlined image, but it is now a collage where everyone has contributed to the whole. This project emphasizes the importance of each person’s contribution to the family and connects them all.
